Roll with it!!

Planning a wedding... its an interesting monster.  Some days its so stressful and makes me crazy.  Some days I feel like we might just pull it off AND keep our sanity!
We are waiting on word back from the Basque House so we can pay our deposit and lock in our location.  We got the name of an officient to check into from some friends.  He is a pastor and requires 2 months of pre-marriage counseling which I think is a good thing.  I have been talking to a local baker about doing cupcakes instead of cake...its around the same price and so much easier to serve.  Plus I LOVE CUPCAKES!!!
All in all things are lining up pretty well and as much as it makes me nervous and wonder what will go wrong I'm going to just roll with it.  Its all good.

The planning has begun...where's my wine?!

The cake...who's going to do the cake!  Caterers?!  Photographers charge HOW MUCH?!  We don't go to church so who's going to marry us????  We should set a budget...don't forget anything on it!  Dress shopping in Elko...right...time to go to Boise...first to find the time!  What are the guys going to wear???  DJ or iPod...that's the question!  Frosting?  What are our colors?  Table linens....are there enough tables???  GUEST LIST!

That's it!  Where's my wine?!  Or chocolate...NO!  Wedding diet!!!  Crap.

Engagement Pictures!

We had engagement pictures done last weekend by our good friend (and bridesmaid) Ashley.  You should check her out if you're local and on Facebook.  Just look up A.R.Photos.  She's awesome. :)
You'll see below that we had a blast, were our typical goofy selves and looked pretty darn good doing it.  Let's hear it for the groom...isn't he a dish?!

One of the things I love about us is our ability to just laugh.  It's refreshing and comforting and ridiculous all at the same time and it's about the best thing since sliced bread. :)  This life we're starting...it's gonna be a HOOT!

Here's to date night!

It's amazing how when you're with the right person the most mundane things feel special. For instance last night we managed to squeeze in a date night before Ryan headed back to Battle Mountain for four days. It was wonderful. Dinner at Wingers, where we laughed until our faces were red and had a mini wet wipe war (I know, grow up, right?!). Then we were off to the Elko Convention Center for the Festival of Trees Tree Lighting. Neither of us had been before and we had a great time. Holding hands and walking through the "forrest" of lit trees will always be one of my favorite memories. Then we capped this perfect date night off with.... Grocery shopping!!! And there is the mundane that I mentioned. But it didn't matter. It was quality time with someone I really care about and wanted to spend time with so it was perfect. I'll take grocery shopping with him over being without him any day. :)
Unfortunately our date night ended with Ryan heading back to Battle Mountain for four days but like I'm consistently reminded... It could be worse. :)
Plus, I have wedding planning to distract me. I'll be alright. ;)

Is it proper?

I have an Aunt who is very proper and polite and creative and all sorts of other descriptive words that are escaping me right now. She's very clever and is always good for an interesting story or tidbit.
Today this Aunt came up to me and told me that she wasn't sure if she should say it  or not but wished me congratulations on my engagement. I wasn't sure exactly what she meant when she said she wasn't sure if she should congratulate me or not. She said that she was told once that it wasn't appropriate to congratulate the Bride...as if she had done something spectacular by snagging a man; apparently some find it insulting. I have to smile, I feel pretty spectacular and I sure did snag a keeper. I'll totally take the Congratulations!

Ooo, shiny...

I have officially become that girl who can lose the second half of her sentence if her engagement ring happens to catch her eye. Who knows why. Maybe it's the "whoa we are getting married" sense of amazement or maybe it's just that I'm incredibly attracted to shiny things. Either way, it's making it increasingly difficult for me to finish my book tonight. This bride just can't concentrate!!!
Laugh at my "misfortune" all you want but you've got to admit...it's gorgeous.

And it begins...

Holy crap, we're getting married!  There's so much to think about, to plan, to eventually stress over and to look back on and laugh at.  You know how the Bride's mind works right?  First I have to get used to being the "Bride" and then I have to learn to shut my mind off at night and get some sleep!  It's already started...it's taking over!  It's wedding-brain.
I asked Ryan last night as we were doing the dishes what kind of wedding he wants.  I'm thinking do you want laid back, more formal...where....all the things that Brides think about.  His answer? "Well babe, I want the kind of wedding that makes me your husband."  Absolutely no help at all in the planning section of my brain but completely MELTED the rest of my brain.  How can I argue with that?  I can't and I don't want to. :)  He still amazes me with how sweet and genuine he is.  He doesn't give me the "right" answer, whether I want it or not.  He just gives me his answer, plain and simple.  I love it.  I never have to wonder what he's thinking...he'll just let it on out.
BUT, over the dishes last night we settled on where we want to get married and when...two really important parts of planning a wedding.  We even have a theme of sorts.  We've decided who we want to be in our wedding party....we're off to a rockin' start if you ask me!  Luckily we were able to get the Grove in Lamoille for the day we want so we are officially planning our wedding for September 28th, 2013 in Lamoille.  It will practically decorate itself!!  Easy peasy....right????  Right?!
