Pregnancy is a beautiful miracle. It's amazing to think that I have a person growing inside me. It's amazing to think that we all came from inside of our mothers and grew to be who and what we are now. It's amazing. Wonderful.
With that said, it's not all roses and rainbows. It's amazing how one persons pregnancy can be sooooo different from anothers. I know countless women who are just sick as can be for their whole pregnancy and even more who had the blissful pregnancy and we will from now on refer to as the "Pregnancy Unicorns." These are the beautiful, lucky women who don't experience the gut-wrenching morning sickness, back breaking hip spasms and utter exaustion that so many of us suffer through in order to grow our beautiful miracles. Everyone knows (and is jealous of) one. My little sister....a pregnancy unicorn.
Overall my little peanut hasn't been too mean to me. Compared to some friends I have that are sick constantly my pregnancy has been a peach. Compared to my sisters blissful experience my pregnancy has been a bear. :) Everyone's different.
Our little miracle is 13 1/2 weeks big now, about the size of a peach and growing like crazy. He/She has developed all their organs by now and they are starting to work on their own. Fingerprints have formed, hair has started to grow and he/she can make sucking movements and bend his/her arms and legs. He/She might just be sucking their thumb in there as I type. It's so crazy to think of what's next.
When Ryan and I were in Reno for our wedding (see previous post) we decided to take some "family time" and went to Babies R Us. We did our registry and OMG that was so much fun. I'm not sure which one of us had more fun with that crazy little registry gun they gave us but we were pretty worn out and hungry by the time we were done. We don't know what sex baby is yet so we planned for both. We figure when we find out we'll log onto the registry and thin it down to just that sex. I say we're growing a girl; Ryan's positive there's a boy in there. In another month or so we'll know who's right!
Here's baby as of Wednesday the 6th of Feb. :) All is well. Ultrasound showed one baby and baby was wiggling all over. :) Seems healthy as a horse. Doc said all my ailments are typical side effects and gave me a sheet with a list of side affects and the recommended treatments of them. Turns out I can take unisom to help me sleep. Cross your fingers that it works. :) Sleep would be great!
Next appointment and ultrasound is on March 6th with Doctor Winch and we'll be 16 weeks at that point, which is the earliest you can tell sex. Not counting on it but wouldn't it be cool to find out?!
This ultrasound isn't a very good picture because baby is still only the size of a peach and wouldn't hold still long enough. We were able to see arms and legs and little bones but couldn't catch them on the photos. :)

I had some pretty intense back pain and the combination of these three things were a Christmas miracle for me:
ReplyDelete1. EXERCISE - swimming is best, but walking works too. Adam and I walk Ruston way (or the mall if it is raining) every Sunday.
2. Heat. My hot pad went everywhere in the house with me for a couple of weeks. Now it just lives on the couch.
3. Sit up straight. You really want to focus on keeping your shoulders aligned with your hips. NO HUNCHING.
I think walking was good for me too, I worked with the girls and it was a stand on your feet for 8 hours kind of job, and walking all over the Phoeinx airport too. With Graham I worked but only part time, so only walking and standing 4-5 hours a day, towards the end I swam every day (if you could count hanging around in the pool with 2 little girls swimming, LOL). I think I'm a pregnancy unicorn too. Um, maybe I wasn't beautiful and glowing, more like fat and sweaty in the Phoenix heat, but I never was really sick or too achy, I loved most every minute of my pregnancies, and would much rather be pregnant for 9 months then have a 4 day period every 4 weeks. Just tell yourself that your body was meant to do this, that a gazillion women before you did it, so you can too!
ReplyDeleteThe shoulders and hips thing is something I've worked on today and it really helps. I find myself hunched forward towards whatever I'm working on more often than not. It's a good habit to start. Thanks guys.
